Xiaomi Launches Redmi Book 14 2025 Renewed Edition With Curious Hardware Choices

Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi Book 14 2025 lineup by introducing two new “Renewed Edition” models, now available through Xiaomi’s official store, its Youpin platform, and retailers like JD.com. Despite carrying a 2025 label, these laptops are equipped with outdated Intel processors from the 12th and 13th Gen Core series, which were already considered behind the curve when earlier Redmi Book 14 variants launched in 2023.

The Redmi Book 14 2025 Renewed Edition offers two processor choices: the Intel Core i5-12450H or the Intel Core i5-13420H. Both configurations come standard with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Benchmark comparisons reveal minimal performance differences between the two CPUs, though both trail modern Intel H-series chips, such as the Core Ultra 5 225H, by roughly 20% to 25% in processing power.

Pricing for the updated models starts at CNY 2,999 (approximately $417) for the Core i5-12450H version and rises to CNY 3,298 (around $459) for the Core i5-13420H variant. While the internal processors may not be cutting-edge, the laptops retain several premium hardware features from earlier Redmi Book 14 editions. These include a 14-inch 2.8K resolution display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, an IPS panel for improved viewing angles, and a 56 Wh battery.

This release follows Xiaomi’s recent expansion of the Redmi Book 14 range. Earlier in the year, the company introduced the Redmi Book 14 Ryzen Edition 2025, powered by AMD’s Rembrandt R APUs based on the Zen 3+ architecture. Additionally, Xiaomi refreshed the higher-end Redmi Book Pro 14, positioning it as a cost-effective alternative to the Apple MacBook Pro 14.

The Renewed Edition appears to be a cost-conscious update rather than a significant technological leap. With its mid-range Intel processors and retained hardware design, it caters to users seeking a balance of affordable pricing, adequate performance, and a high-quality display rather than those needing cutting-edge computing power.
