Deadline reports a film adaptation of Stephen King’s “novella,” Rat, is now in development with Isaac Ezban attached to direct. The story concerns Drew Larson, a writer “cursed by his own ambition.” Each attempt at a novel has ended in disaster—illness, misfortune, or worse. Determined to break the cycle, he retreats to a desolate cabin in the Maine woods, convinced this time will be different. But as a violent storm traps him in isolation, Drew’s body falters and his mind begins to unravel. In the grip of fever and madness, a stranger appears—an uncanny visitor who promises salvation and success…for a price Drew can barely comprehend.”

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Deadline also reports the next Spider-Verse movie is now scheduled for a June 18, 2027, theatrical release date, a week earlier than its previous release date

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

Bloody-Disgusting has our first look at Sam Rockwell as “a man claiming to be from the future who takes the patrons of an iconic Los Angeles diner hostage in search of unlikely recruits in a quest to save the world” in Gore Verbinski’s Good Like, Have Fun, Don’t Die. 

Alien: Earth

During a recent interview with Polygon, Noah Hawley stated he’s “pretty confident” there will be more Alien: Earth following its cliffhanger finale.

I’m pretty confident, given the show’s success, that we’ll get to make more. The risk is the reward.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

Deadline reports Jimmi Simpson has joined the cast of The Walking Dead: Dead City as an incoming “series regular” named Dillard. No further details on his character are available at this time.

Fourth Wing

Deadline also reports Meredith Averill has replaced Moira Walley-Beckett as showrunner on Fourth Wing, a TV series at Amazon based on Rebecca Yarros’ fantasy novels. The series concerns twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail as she “leaves the life of a scribe behind at her mother’s demand that she become a dragon rider. At the order of her mother, who is a general in the military of Navarre, Violet enters the brutal ranks of Basgiath War College, which trains up-and-coming riders through the Graduate or Die method.”
